Tychonoff's Theorem Through Nets

  • Aryan Komarla, B. Math student, ISI Bangalore

In this talk, we will introduce the powerful notion of nets in a topological space \(X\). We will see that nets are a generalization of sequences. This is useful as we can now carry over most of the intuition we have regarding sequences to arbitrary topological spaces. We will demonstrate the usefulness of nets by proving Tychonoff's Theorem in a painless way.
