Abstract :

In this talk, we will discuss the basic definitions of Riemann surface, complex atlas, and maximal complex atlas. I will try to give the motivation behind the study of Riemann surfaces. We will discuss some Riemann surface structures on the Riemann sphere, cylinder, and torus.
