Picard's big (or great) theorem shows that a holomorphic function has explosive behaviour in the vicinity of an essential singularity. We will give a sketch of a very nice and geometric proof of this theorem. We will develop the necessary machinery from basic hyperbolic geometry.
Dr. Jaikrishnan is a faculty member in the Department of Mathematics at IIT Palakkad. He earned his PhD in Mathematics from IISc Bangalore and subsequently served as an INSPIRE Faculty at IIT Madras for a period of time. His research interests include several complex variables, complex dynamics, and complex geometry.
