When is I^(n) = I^n? - Lecture 2

  • Prof. A. V. Jayanthan, Department of Mathematics, IIT Madras

Last week we defined the symbolic powers and discussed some basic properties. In this seminar, we will see more classes of ideals for which the equality of symbolic and ordinary powers occurs. We will also give some necessary and sufficient conditions for this equality in terms of properties of associated graded rings.
