Abstract :

Two questions have consumed philosophers and thinkers for centuries – “What exists?” (ontology) and “How do we know?” (epistemology). These questions are central in the darshana tradition. In this lecture, we give a basic introduction to epistemology (pramaaNashaastra) from the point of view of the Nyaya tradition, with special emphasis on anumaana (logical inference).
