Abstract :

We will begin with basic properties of projective plane curves and introduce the Nagata Conjecture, which is an important open problem in algebraic geometry. We will then define Seshadri constants and interpret Nagata Conjecture in terms of them. If time permits, we will discuss Seshadri constants on arbitrary projective surfaces and mention some important problems in the area.
