Abstract :

In linear algebra, an idempotent matrix is a matrix which, when multiplied by itself, remains itself. In matrix theory, we come across many special type of matrices and one among them is idempotent matrices, which plays an important role in functional analysis especially in the spectral theory. In this talk, we shall establish that every complex matrix is a linear combination of three idempotent matrices. The talk will be elementary.
